African Arid Experiences uses its extensive local knowledge to plan and book a self-drive tour that leaves you feeling confident in your choices, allowing you to enjoy a hassle free trip, taking in the best attractions and experiences of your chosen route. We want you to enjoy the freedom this leaves you to explore new places, confident that the logistics have been sorted by us.

Our Self-drive tours are one of the most enjoyable, flexible and cost effective ways to explore. However in the vast outdoor playground that we cover you need to know the condition of the roads, infrastructure, accommodation, local guides and entertainment.  We cover all of this and look for accommodation that isn't just a place to sleep, but is an experience in itself; source knowledgeable local guides; and advise you on the most appropriate mode of transport for the conditions. Also you need to know how far you can comfortably travel in one day and still have the time to experience this wondrous land.

We are here to sort out the logistics, give you friendly personal advice and instruction and to put  your mind at rest. We specialise in specific areas and routes rather than covering all of southern Africa, this enables us to have first hand knowledge of conditions and know what is easy and manageable, as well as which routes may be only for the more adventurous.

The all important Cost

On our self-drive tours you only pay for what you get. No extra commissions are added onto hotel or vehicle bookings over what you would pay if you booked it direct. Using us will most likely save you money over booking it yourself and it'll definitely save you lots of time and headaches, and we'll take you to places you would never have known about. There is no charge for the planning and booking of the bespoke self-drive tours that we have researched and crafted, however, on self-drive tours that require new research we may charge a little extra for the service, but we will always let you know this upfront.

The African Arid Experiences Self-Drive tours

We have put together a number of self-drive package tours in South Africa and Namibia all of which can be further adapted to your desires. As stated above we do not charge for the planning and bookings of our 'standard' tours, it is a free service that we offer our clients.

On the packages we book your accommodation, arrange your vehicle hire and provide you with maps and directions. The venues we have chosen mostly have their own unique character, and we have gone out of our way with our selections to choose venues that offer that extra special something at the most reasonable prices possible.  All our tours are ex Cape Town.

Self-drive Holidays offer excellent value for money over guided tours

No extra commissions are added onto hotel or vehicle bookings over what you would pay if you booked it direct.

We also pride ourselves on our ability to give clients extra special service and experiences through our scheduled guided tours
